About the Artists
Assaf Gruber
Exhibiting in Main Exhibition Venue: Earlsfort Terrace

Born 1980 in Jerusalem (ISR)
Lives and works in Paris (FRA)

Exploring materiality through the tension between the mythic and the epic, the subjective and the universal, Assaf Gruber’s spatial configurations deconstruct a diversity of formal vocabularies. Gruber has exhibited widely at, among other venues, Galeria del infinito arte, Buenos Aires 2010; 2nd Herzliya Biennial of Contemporary Art 2009; Lubalin Center, Cooper Union, New York 2006. Gruber won the 2008 Les Amis des Beaux–Arts Prize in Paris.

Omer Fast
Exhibiting in Main Exhibition Venue: Earlsfort Terrace

Born 1972 in Jerusalem (ISR)
Lives and works in Berlin (DEU)

In Omer Fast’s video installations it is in the re-telling, editing, interpretation, misunderstanding and subjective recollections that we encounter the kernels of what is real. His work has recently been exhibited at the Whitney Museum of American Art New York in 2008, the Barbican Art Gallery London 2008, and Centre Pompidou, Paris 2008. He exhibited at the 2011 Venice Biennial. In 2008, Fast participated in the Whitney Biennial and received the Bucksbaum Award. In 2009 he was awarded the Preis der Nationalgalerie für Junge Kunst. In 2010 he got the Medal Award, the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.

Main Exhibition Venue
Dublin Contemporary’s main exhibition space is located in the heart of the city on Earlsfort Terrace. Previously home to University College Dublin and never before opened to the public, this magnificent venue occupies the same building as the National Concert Hall. Renowned for its historical attributes, the characteristic surroundings of the building will remain untouched in a bid to keep its history alive. The adjacent Iveagh Gardens with its fountain and waterfall – Dublin’s very own secret garden – will be Dublin Contemporary’s sculpture park. The neighbouring light-filled Annex will bring together a multiplicity of sound works. Extending its reach across the city, Dublin Contemporary 2011 will also partner with four seminal Dublin galleries: The Douglas Hyde Gallery at Trinity College, Dublin City Gallery The Hugh Lane, The National Gallery of Ireland and The Royal Hibernian Academy. Visitors can also enjoy an intriguing series of street works in 22 locations around the city.

Expect something for everyone – You don’t have to be an art connoisseur

Dublin Contemporary is an art exhibition designed to welcome everyone – giving a unique insight into the world of contemporary art. It is for art lovers, holiday visitors and people of every age who simply want to experience something original and perhaps a little different to the world in which they live.
