Yael Bartana

Born in 1970, and based in Tel Aviv, Yael Bartana is a graduate of the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, Jerusalem. A year at the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten, Amsterdam, followed her studies at the School of Visual Arts in New York.

Bartana has exhibited extensively in solo and group shows in Israel, Europe and the United States. In 2008-9 Yael Bartana had solo exhibitions at PS1 Contemporary Art Center, New York and the Contemporary Jewish Museum, San Francisco. Bartana received an Artis grant for her exhibition and catalogue at PS1 Contemporary Art Center, New York in 2008.

Yael Bartana will represent Poland at the 2011 Venice Biennale.

Bartana is represented by Annet Gelink Gallery, Amsterdam and Sommer Contemporary Art, Tel Aviv.
