Artist Profiles

David Adika

David Adika was born in Jerusalem in 1970. He received a BFA and an MFA from Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, Jerusalem and has participated in artist residencies in Paris and Barcelona. Adika currently teaches at both Bezalel Academy and Shenkar College of Engineering and Design, Ramat-Gan. He lives and works in Tel Aviv.

Selected solo exhibitions include: "Living Room (Portraits 2008-2010)" at Tel Aviv Museum of Art (2010); "Every Monkey is a Gazelle in His Mother's Eyes" at Braverman Gallery, Tel Aviv (2009); and "Mahogany" at Herzliya Museum of Art (2003). Selected group exhibitions include: "Stop Making Sense" at Oslo Kunstforening (2010); "Shelf Life" at Haifa Museum for Contemporary Art (2010); "Que Tal Herzliya" at Herzliya 1st Biennial (2007); and "Matter of a Taste" at Israel Museum, Jerusalem (2002).

Adika has received numerous awards and prizes, including the Keren Sharet Scholarship from the America-Israel Fund (2004 and 2005), the Young Artist Award from the Israeli Ministry of Science, Culture, and Sport (2004), the Pilot Summer School from the Glasgow School of Art and the British Council (2003), and the Dean's Award from the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design (1995 and 1996).
