Nir Evron

Nir Evron is a video artist and photographer. Born in 1974 in Israel, he lives and works in Tel Aviv. He graduated from Bezalel Academy (2001) and completed a MFA degree at The Slade School of Fine Art in London (2005).

In recent years his work focuses on reexamining historical events, visions and representations of the past through video and film. This is usually done by studying various methods and practices of historical documentation and rebuilding them using films, documents, sounds, photographs and texts.

Evron exhibited widely in Israel and abroad. Recent exhibitions include The 6th Berlin Biennale (Curator: Kathrin Rhomberg), Overview - Israeli Video 2000-2010, Haifa Museum of Art (Curator: Sergio Edlstein), and 'Evet' at Hamidrasha Gallery, Tel Aviv (Curator: Doreet Levitte Harten). Evron received Israel's Minister of Culture's award for young artist (2007) and was awarded the "Samuel Givon" Prize by The Tel Aviv Museum and Givon Gallery (2008). His works can be found in collections such as The Israel Museum Collection and The Zabludowicz Collection, London. Evron is currently working towards a new Solo show at the Tel Aviv CCA in September 2011.
