New Position: Development & Operations Manager, Artis New York

Artis is seeking a full-time Development and Operations Manager for immediate hire to become an integral part of our talented New York team.

Responsibilities include:

Development - Institutional and Individual Fundraising
- Collaborate with Executive Director to develop annual and intermediate-term fundraising objectives and plans, including contributed and earned income.
- Research and conduct outreach to new prospects, arrange funder and prospect meetings
- Maintain fundraising calendar with deadlines, meetings, and follow ups
- Maintain digital and hard copy files
- Coordinate and produce regular cultivation and fundraising events, including arranging venues, producing timelines, engaging staff and managing volunteers, sending invitations, working with sponsors/host, coordinating on-site, and following-up post-event
- Work with ED to coordinate board meetings, including preparation, execution, and follow up
- Draft new narratives and organizational language
- Produce proposals, reports, gift acknowledgements, correspondence, and application materials
- Maintain database with all donor activity and contact information
- Conceptualize and produce annual Collector’s Trip
- Represent Artis at public functions, cultivation events and meetings

Professional Development
- Coordinate annual professional development workshop for Israeli artists, including securing partnerships, inviting and liaising with participants, coordinating travel logistics, organizing studio visits, organizing programming surrounding workshop and initiating partnerships
- Maintain and bolster alumni network

Grants Program

- Manage and oversee the Grant Program, including structuring its operations, corresponding with applicants, administering grants, and organizing Jury review sessions twice per year
- Growing the reach of both the Grant Program and the Professional Development Program through personal outreach, marketing, and strategic planning

Operations

- Assist with and provide input on Artis’ programs as a whole
- Manage adherence to legal 501(c)3 status by ensuring IRS standards are met and year-end tax filing and audit are carried out
- Draft contracts and process financial transactions as needed
- Provide general office management including: supporting ED, administering employee benefits, working with outside vendors, IT trouble-shooting and data backup, ordering office supplies, coordinating incoming/outgoing mail, and other administrative duties as needed
- Along with Program and Communications Manager, oversee and direct Administrative Assistant and interns
- Manage and maintain organizational database, calendars, and shared files

Requirements
- B.A.; M.A. in Art History/Arts Administration or related field preferred
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; fluency in Hebrew a plus but not necessary
- At least three years of experience in arts administration and development, preferably with non-profits
- Enthusiasm for and appreciation of Artis’ mission; thorough knowledge of international contemporary art; and understanding of funding landscape
- Strong interpersonal, organizational and management skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with attention to detail and broad organizational goals
- Positive and proactive attitude; flexibility and energy; independent worker as well as a team player; works well under pressure and with quick timelines
- Proficiency in Mac and Microsoft Office systems; knowledge of development management systems; experience with bookkeeping a plus
